Gloomy mysteries of the fairy-tale tower on Yakimanka

The mansion is located at 43 Yakimanka Street and soon after it was completed, terrible rumors began to spread, one worse than the other.

The rumor ran that the owner of the building, merchant Nikolay Igumnov, resented excessive cost estimates and refused to pay the bills. Architect Nikolay Pozdeev was highly offended and committed suicide. In fact, the architect had been suffering from tuberculosis, so his death caught him even before the completion of construction on Yakimanka.

And it was also rumored that Igumnov put a young lover in his house - either an actress or a dancer, to whom he secretly fled from his family. But one day, having unexpectedly arrived in Moscow, he caught her with another man and in a jealous rage killed her, then bricked her body up in a wall. The police even opened a criminal case, but found no traces of the crime.
